Client

House Tipster is a home improvement website, community, and online store for all things home & home decorating. They write articles on various home improvement topics and also provide various tools for DIY home renovations.

Challenge

House Tipster was just launching their online store and they needed product descriptions for 19 different rugs. The descriptions were primarily based on photos of the rugs, with very little concrete information provided. The challenge was to create both regular descriptions (between 250-300 characters long) and meta descriptions (between 270-300 characters) that would entice website users to buy.

Solution

For this copy, I focused on creating a verbal description of each rug, giving it context and helping flesh out its 2D image for shoppers. The copy connects each rug to a design trend or motif so shoppers have a better sense of if it will resonate with their existing decor. It describes the transformation each rug would bring to a room, while distinguishing between often-similar colors and designs. Subtle differences between the regular and meta descriptions boost SEO.
